Tim Janis, wHO has conducted the Czech National Symphony, the Kwazulu Natal Philharmonic, and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in plus to composition his have medicine, studied piano and received a level in composition from the University of New Hampshire in 1991. He has cited composers John Williams, John Barry, and Hans Zimmer as major influences, simply has experimented with several forms of the nontextual matter, penning musicals (produced at UNH), synthesized pop songs with vocals, piles for belittled independent films, and even area, malarky, acoustic, and surd rock and roll arrangements. Owning a book judge and studio, Tim Janis Ensemble, in Kennebunk, ME, has allowed the composer the exemption to proceed interacting with musicians from many genres, the fruit of which is seen in his all-inclusive discography.

A prolific recording artist, Janis has released over 15 solo compositions, among them Etain (1996), A Thousand Summers (2002), Across Two Oceans (2004), and Coming Home (2005), as well as many Christmas recordings. His mold broadly concerns itself with potent and descriptive melodies, often regarding the ravisher of nature (for exercise, 1996's Along the Shore of Acadia, a rich tone verse form elysian by the national park), proving it the gross escort for deuce world video programs extolling the physical luster of the United States, Beautiful America (2004) and Coastal America (2006), both narrated by worker George Clooney. Janis also performed in a live special for PBS, 2001's An American Composer in Concert, with the American Symphony Orchestra, whom he conducted.

Believing that music lav be more than entertainment, the composer began his Music with a Mission jut out, with the determination of supporting understanding and consciousness between different mass and cultures. He has brought the all-female HIV-positive South African consort Sinikithemba to the U.S. to raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic there, performed a series of concerts in China to bridge circuit communication 'tween the two countries, and as of 2006 was still leading the Music in Our Schools unpaid worker program, which is meant to inhale elementary school students to create and study music.

Deborah Bonham

Duchess (Rhino): B-

Ever drink too many MGDs and wake up with a bar bands $15, self-released CD in your jacket the succeeding morning? Then you put it on and think, Man, these guys were way better when I was tanked? Deborah Bonham (yes, the Led Zeppelin drum gods little sis) is that prevention band and Duchess is that bibulous purchase. She can sing, the vapours originals arent half bad and after a few beers you might be caught saying the band really cooks. But unplayful, every Led Zeppelin - heck, every Firm album - is better. To hear a Paul Rodgers duet featuring a soft Jason Bonham on drums and an ill-conceived mention to Dancing Days, download Hold On.

"The Middleman": saving the world with tongue in cheek

One of the enduring attractions of comic books and graphic novels is the ease with which they explain the universe. Evil is identifiable, external and fairly simple to vanquish with the application of the appropriate superpowers.

And sometimes, as in the case of ABC Family's new comic-based series "The Middleman," evil is downright funny.

In "Middleman's" first episode, a slimy, many-eyed, multitentacled creature erupts in a DNA laboratory. Later, evil's personification is a mobster ape with a machine gun.

"The Middleman" — written as a graphic novel by Javier Grillo-Marxuach, who has also written for the series "Lost" and "Medium" — stars Matt Keeslar in the title role, a straight-arrow, milk-drinking former member of the Navy SEALs who stands between us and horrors we're not even aware of, fighting evil "so you don't have to." Early on, he explains the world to his protégé.

"You know how in comic books there's all kinds of mad scientists and aliens and androids and monsters who want to either take over or destroy the world?" he asks. "Well, it really does work like that."

This is news to Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales), an art-school graduate and temp secretary whose calm in the face of the multitentacled slime creature — she stabs it with a letter opener — inspires the Middleman to recruit her.

"You're good under pressure," he says.

She asks, "Are you hitting on me?" There is some sexual tension, but you hope it won't become a big part of the story; there's much more interesting material here. "Middleman" is full of hilarious throwaways, as when our hero, preparing to drink a glass of "cool, refreshing milk" with some bad guys, empties his pockets — of grenades, flamethrowers and a crossbow.

"Middleman" skillfully incorporates real-life details. Its characters live the kinds of lives that people read comic books to escape from.

"Did I get any calls?" Wendy asks her roommate.

Roommate: "Yeah. Your mom called to ask if you're a lesbian."

That would be the mom whom Wendy describes as "on me 24/7 to quit painting, move back to Orlando, meet a good man, eat fried foods, swell up like a tick and start squeezing out calves like Elsie mainlining fertility drugs."

Then there's the motive of the mad scientist who created the gun-toting ape; she's just trying to compensate for federal cuts to her research grants. Saving the world is easy; making a world as complex and funny as this one is the real feat of "Middleman."

Angelina & Brad Bicker Over Baby Names?

With the birth of their twins only weeks away, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are reportedly having trouble agreeing on what to call the new additions to the Jolie-Pitt clan.
It seems that a major sticking point is Brad's lack of enthusiasm for Angie's suggestions - and we must admit, we're kind of with him on this.
The actor is said to have KO'd the names Castor and Pollox (after  Angie's birth sign) as he doesn’t want a daughter with a name that sounds “like a British cuss word”.
It's believed that the heavily pregnant actress is due to give birth in as little as two weeks.
The couple already have three adopted children, Maddox, six, Pax, four, and Zahara, three, and a biological daughter, Shiloh, 2.
